The Pavlis Institute for Global Technological Leadership exists to inspire and prepare Michigan Technological University students to become global leaders who challenge themselves, work effectively on diverse teams, and achieve their goals through life-changing courses, projects, mentorships, and international experiences.
The Pavlis Institute is a distinct experiential learning community within the Pavlis Honors College. It is a hands-on leadership program that provides Michigan Tech students from all majors the opportunity to become better leaders through both classes and hands-on experiential project work.
Classes focus on topics such as understanding yourself as a leader, how to lead different types of people and in different situations, effective teamwork and cultural awareness. This knowledge is put into practice through the planning, leading, and implementing of community projects, both home and abroad. Between their junior and senior years, members of the Institute travel in teams to foreign countries for a 5-week international experience where they learn about themselves and the communities in which they are living. Past foreign projects include design and implementation of a water filtration system in India, STEM outreach in Malta, and the design and delivery of a mobile health care clinic in Ghana.
You are eligible to apply if you meet the following criteria:
- You have three years remaining at Michigan Tech
- You have no prior obligations during the summer of your junior and senior year
- You have a desire to grow as a leader and challenge yourself to make a difference in the world.
