Contractor's Insurance Requirements

Michigan Technological University requires proof of insurance depicting coverage in accordance with the following from vendors and contractors.

Send proof of insurance, prior to the start of work, to the Purchasing Department at Michigan Technological University, 314 Lakeshore Center, 1400 Townsend Dr., Houghton, MI 49931-1295 or email to purchasing@mtu.edu.

Vendor/contractor will indemnify and hold harmless the University from and against all claims, judgments, liability and expense of any nature due to bodily injury, personal injury or damage to property arising out of vendor's performance of work or activity.

Minimum Requirements

General Liability $1,000,000 each occurrence $2,000,000 aggregate
Workers Compensation/ Employer's Liability Part 1 - Statutory required by State Part 2 - $500,000 each accident
Automobile Liability $1,000,000 each occurrence and State required Personal Injury Protection Benefits
Charter Buses $5,000,000 each occurrence and State required Personal Injury Protection Benefits
Aviation Liability $5,000,000 each occurrence
Builders' Risk (Contractors) $100,000 each occurrence
Bonds (Contractors) When bid exceeds $50,000, Contractor shall furnish a performance bond and a labor and material bond, each in the amount of 100% of contract sum.
