Inspired by my senses
When I was young, art and math were some of my favorite courses. I never knew I would be using both art and math in fields such as Forestry and Wetland Ecology. An education in Forestry and Wetland Ecology combine the art (and knowledge) of how to grow trees or plants and how to maintain the stability of the ecosystem while improving the beauty of what we see across the landscape.
My role as Dean is to provide leadership and to provide the faculty, staff, and students with the necessary resources to teach, do research, and learn. While still doing some research on the ecology of wetlands and riparian areas within the Upper Great Lakes Region, I also focus on helping faculty, staff, and students to find their life's path and to realize the excitement each individual's contributions mean to our School, our university, our nation, and our world.
