Vaccine: Most of the H1N1 discussion is currently centering on vaccine development for the fall. The federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is anticipating that there will be an H1N1 vaccine ready for use as early as mid-October.
The CDC has published priority groups for H1N1 vaccine, selecting those populations that may be at high risk for getting the infection and/or at high risk for complications. Youth, aged six months to twenty-four years of age, are one of the priority groups for vaccination. Because of this, Michigan Tech will be working closely with the local public health department to ensure that vaccine is made easily accessible to our students, faculty, and staff.
