National Business Scholars Award

This scholarship is no longer being awarded to new students. New College of Business nonresident students will be considered for the College of Business Dean's Award.

The National Business Scholars Award was previously awarded to incoming first-year non-Michigan residents, including international students, who planned to major within the College of Business at Michigan Tech.

Award Value

The value of the National Business Scholars Award is $20,000* per year for up to four years (eight semesters).

Renewal Criteria

Scholarship recipients must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 at the end of each spring semester.  Continuous, regular full-time undergraduate enrollment of at least 12 credits and acceptable social behavior must also be maintained.  Recipients are required to live in University housing for the first two academic years--four academic semesters (not including summers), to maintain this scholarship.  Students are eligible for this award for a maximum of eight semesters of undergraduate study.

Exclusions

Students receiving the National Business Scholars Award are not eligible to receive a National Scholars Award or an International Ambassador Scholarship. National Business Scholars Award recipients who are subsequently classified as Michigan Residents by Michigan Tech in accordance with institutional policy will receive in-state tuition rates and be considered for our in-state Presidential Scholars Award. As a part of this process, the National Business Scholars Award will be cancelled.

*For students who are eligible for the Alumni Legacy Award or the Military Family Education Award, the value of the National Business Scholars Award will be $2,000 per year, rather than $20,000 per year. These students receiving a $2,000 per year National Business Scholars Award will not be required to live in University housing for their first two academic years to maintain their scholarship.
