PEO International Grants and Loans for Women Students
The P.E.O. International Houghton Chapter has several grants and loans available for women students at Michigan Tech. Please visit their web site here and contact Susan Beck at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details and application instructions.
Programs/Projects of note:
- International Peace Scholarships (IPS): Need-based. $10,000/renewable for one time only.
- Program for Continuing Education (PCE): Need-based scholarship. Must have had at least a 24-month break in education and be within 24 months of completing program. $3,000/non-renewable.
- Scholar Awards (PSA): Merit-based scholarship. Must be within 2 years of completing a doctoral level degree. $15,000/non-renewable.
- STAR: Merit-based scholarship. For high school seniors enrolling in a postsecondary institution upon graduation. $2,500/non-renewable.
All grants, scholarships and loans, with the exception of the International Peace Scholarship (IPS), require applicants be sponsored by a local chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
P.E.O. was founded in 1869 by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Today, P.E.O. has grown to nearly a quarter of a million members in chapters throughout the U.S. and Canada, with headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. Their focus is to help women to achieve education.
