6.3.2 Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (MPSERS)

Michigan Tech contributes towards MPSERS retirement for eligible employees. This program is governed by laws of the State of Michigan.

New employees hired after January 1, 1996, unless they have worked in one of the MPSERS university systems, are not eligible to participate in MPSERS, but may be eligible to participate in the Defined Contribution Retirement Plan. Contact the Benefits Office if you have questions.

01/29/2015 - Annual Review: To reflect current practice, the email address for questions is now policy@mtu.edu. The first sentence in the second paragraph read: "... but may be eligible to participate in the Base Retirement Program" now reads "... but may be eligible to participate in the Defined Contribution Retirement Plan".
