6.2.3.2 Holidays

Michigan Technological University observes six paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. In addition, the University offers three other days as holidays. This includes the day preceding New Year's Day, the day preceding Christmas, and the day following Thanksgiving.

When a holiday falls on a Sunday, it may, at the discretion of the University, be observed on the following Monday. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it may, at the discretion of the University, be observed on the preceding Friday.

To be eligible for holiday pay, you must have eight hours of employment status during the normally scheduled work week in which the holiday falls.

Holidays during vacation or sick leave are not counted as part of vacation or sick leave time.
