3.2.8 Release of Grades - Right to Privacy

Student grades are protected under the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act of 1974 and shall only be available to the university administration, faculty, and professional staff with legitimate educational interests; grades may not be released to non-university personnel (including a student's parent) without the written consent of the student, or unless subpoenaed or in other court proceedings. In particular, grades shall not be posted using a student's name, full social security number (student ID number), or in any other readily identifiable manner. Any request to release grade information should be referred to the Registrar's Office.
