Central Receiving serves as a receiving area for large items and pallets that cannot be directly delivered to the department due to size, weight or contents.
We also become the drop off for packages that are addressed incorrectly. To see if your package is undeliverable, please check the undeliverable package page.
Central Receiving is also responsible for recycling university purchased batteries and light bulbs across campus. Please ship such items to Central Receiving through campus mail or drop them off during normal business hours.

How long does it usually take to have a package delivered?
You will receive your shipment within 48 hours. If this is not possible, you will be notified. If you have to have your shipment before that, please contact Central Receiving at 487-2701 to make arrangements.
Can I ship an item out through Central Receiving?
Packages and small boxes must be shipped through the mail room. If you have a large item that must go through Central Receiving follow these steps:
Make sure your freight is packaged and secured properly.
Choose your carrier and fill out a Bill of Lading from that carrier to accompany your package.
Fill out a work order through Maintenance Direct for grounds to pick your freight up.
Can I utilize Central Receiving to ship or receive personal packages?
It is university procedure that you do not ship or receive personal packages through Central Receiving.
What should I do if my package is damaged when I receive it?
Please contact Central Receiving at 487-2701 immediately.
Why do I have to sign for a delivery?
Central Receiving asks for a signature from the person that accepted the delivery to create our own tracking of the package.
What if my item requires refrigeration?
Central Receiving does have a standard size freezer/refrigerator on site and any items requiring cold storage will be kept that way until delivery.
What is the process for delivery of large items?
Central Receiving will call the respective department to confirm the contact (Please note that this can be the addressee, a staff assistant in the office who will acknowledge receipt of package, or someone in the office next door if that is acceptable. It does not have to be the addressee, but should be someone who will be available at the time of delivery to sign for the item.)
When the Grounds department is ready to deliver, they will use the contact information obtained in Step 1 to alert the department of the delivery.
Upon delivery, the contact person will be asked to provide a signature to verify that the item has been delivered and that the contact person acknowledges receipt of the delivery.
