Getting Started with Blackboard
Michigan Tech uses Blackboard Learning System CE as its Learning Management System. What was previously called WebCT CE has been purchased by Blackboard® and is now called Blackboard Learning System CE (Campus Edition). We will be upgrading to the new Blackboard Learn Release 9. Summer and Fall 2010 will be a transition phase with selected courses running in the new system. Spring 2011 will be the campus-wide implementation of Blackboard 9. More information will be posted soon.
Login to Blackboard @ Michigan Tech
All gradable Michigan Tech course sections with a CRN, an Instructor, and at least one student enrolled, will automatically have a Blackboard (Bb) section created. Instructors do not need to request course creation. The student rosters will automatically be populated for all sections .
Availability Dates for Bb Sections
Course instructors will be able to see and access their Bb sections immediately after they are automatically created, and will continue to have access to them until they choose to delete them. (See Blackboard Tutorials: Hide or Delete Bb Sections) Students enrolled in that section will be able to see and access their Bb course about one week prior to the beginning of the semester until a week or two after finals. (See Blackboard Tutorials: Change Bb Section Date)
