Who can utilize the Office of Institutional Equity?

The office of  Institutional Equity at Michigan Technological University is responsible for the implementation of the University's Equal Opportunity, Discrimination/Harassment Policy. Institutional Equity follows the procedures under the Discrimination/Harassment Complaint Process to ensure that employees, students, and visitors are not discriminated against in employment, educational programs and activities on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, height, weight, genetic information, or marital status, disability, or veteran status.

To that end, Institutional Equity may be utilized by faculty, staff, students or visitors alike.

Who can file a complaint?

Any member of the campus community can file a complaint with Institutional Equity. This includes faculty, staff, students or visitors.

Does Institutional Equity advocate for one side or another?

No. Institutional Equity implements its policies in a neutral fashion.

Who works in Institutional Equity?

Institutional Equity is led by a Director. The Institutional Equity Office staff includes the Coordinator of Affirmative Action, who monitors compliance and performs statistical, and data analysis, and a Sr. Staff Assistant, who provides office support and serves as the disabilities representative.
