King Studies Aerospace Thrusters
Brad King, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering, has become Michigan Tech's top space guy.
The young faculty member already holds more than $1 million in grants from NASA and the Air Force for projects ranging from plasma thrusters to miniature satellites.
He also received a prestigious National Science Foundation Career award, presented to up-and-coming young faculty to support their research and teaching.
Brad involves all kinds of students in his research and space program-- undergraduates, graduate students, and even high school students.
One project, called nanosat, involves students from Michigan Tech and nine other universities developing small (less than 50 pounds) satellites, with a lucky winner earning a place on a shuttle mission
The university's Aerospace Enterprise team is involved in the nanosat program and will be part of the plasma thruster research. Michigan Tech's Enterprise Program brings together multidisciplinary teams of undergraduates to work on various projects.
Brad King's focus is on helping to create the future of space travel. Like Michigan Tech's other engineering faculty, he is also ready to help you create your future.
