Apply for an Online Learning course
Application for Admission
After creating a login, select the application type "Undergraduate, Online Courses"
The application process for Online Learning is dependant on your status as a student as described below.
Non-degree Seeking Students
If you are not seeking a degree at Michigan Tech, you can apply for admission as a non-degree seeking student before you register.
There is also a non-degree graduate option, if you are a non-degree seeking student interested in graduate courses. For information e-mail: gradadms@mtu.edu.
Credits earned through successful completion of online courses may transfer to degree granting programs at Michigan Tech or at other Universities. Students interested in this option should verify course equivalencies with their primary institution.
Once your Online Learning Course application is complete, you will be able to register for courses and pay your bill online.
Degree Seeking Students
If you are a degree-seeking student, you will need to be formally admitted to Michigan Tech. Please go to the Admissions page to get more information about applying online.
High School Students
High school students interested in taking online courses should follow the dual enrollment guidelines. These students should contact the Admissions Office directly at 888-688-1885 or mtu4u@mtu.edu or www.admissions.mtu.edu/dual_enrollees/.
International Students
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has special regulations related to international student enrollment in online courses. USCIS defines online or distance education as "a course that is offered principally through the use of television, audio, or computer transmission including open broadcast, closed circuit, satellite, audio conferencing, or computer conferencing. Such a course also does not require the student's physical attendance for classes, examinations, or other purposes integral to completion of the class."
