Advocacy, Advice, and Resource
The Corporate Advisory Board for Institutional Diversity (formerly the Educational Opportunity Diversity Corporate Advisory Board) was established in 2000, and provides valuable input and perspectives to ensure that the University’s diversity initiatives are successful.
The University’s strategic goals are:
- Attract and support a world-class and diverse faculty, staff, and student population
- Deliver a distinctive and rigorous discovery-based learning experience grounded in science, engineering, technology, sustainability, and the business of innovation.
Establish world-class research, scholarship and innovation in science, engineering, and technology that promotes sustainable economic development in Michigan and the nation. - Each University goal and related strategies place an emphasis on diversity of people, and the benefits that result from an inclusive, multicultural educational environment.
The Corporate Advisory Board for Institutional Diversity:
- Is an advocate for institutional diversity
- Offers input and insight concerning short- and long-term strategic diversity goals
- Helps engage all campus units in diversity activities and discussions
- Shares best practices in creating an inclusive environment
- Assists in building collaborative efforts between Michigan Tech and corporations
- Provides advice concerning resources (people, potential partnerships, and financial support) for Michigan Tech’s diversity initiatives
- Provides direction for the development, improvement and financial support of precollege career explorations and outreach programs
- Recommends improvements in promotion and marketing strategies for Institutional Diversity
- Offers advice for fine tuning business processes for Institutional Diversity
- Helps build local community awareness and support for, and involvement in the University’s diversity initiatives
