César Chávez Banquet
Each year, the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI), and its Hispanic Heritage Committee, join together to recognize César Chávez—a legendary farm labor and civil rights leader.
Chávez’s legacy and dream continue to live on through the César Chávez Foundation and the United Farm Workers of America. Each spring, CDI hosts the Tribute to César Chávez: Living the Legacy Banquet to honor his contributions to the fight for social justice. The event brings to campus a distinguished speaker, and provides a night of great food, entertainment, and education.
“Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot un-educate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot process the people who are not afraid anymore. We have seen the future, and the future is ours.”–César Chávez
