Everyone is invited to learn how to salsa, merengue, and cumbia—and then dance the night away—during Gala Latina. Music provided by a live Latin band.

Lavender Graduation

Held at the end of each spring semester, Lavender Graduation honors Michigan Tech’s outgoing class of GLBTQ students. Grads receive a rainbow tassel to recognize them for their engagement and leadership.

Native American Heritage Month

Michigan Tech, Finlandia University, and the local community join together for a parade through downtown Houghton and Hancock, and a multicultural festival with entertainment and international cuisine.
Pride Week

Celebrate the identity and culture of the GLBTQ community. Past events include guest speakers and Q&A sessions. The week culminates with the annual Drag Show—drawing more than 1,000 attendees each year.

Teal ribbons are given to Tech faculty and staff every April to bring attention to sexual assault awareness efforts. A list of resources for students dealing with sexual assault are also circulated.

Recognize past and present female accomplishments and learn more about women’s history through a month of special programming. Past events include workshops, poetry readings, and a bra show fundraiser.
