Subject:
Snowshoeing

I hear and read a lot about downhill and Nordic skiing up there, but where's
a good place to spend a nice scenic afternoon snowshoeing, within a
reasonable drive of the campus?
Thanks.

I've consulted with a couple of our cross-country ski fanatics (couldn't
find any snowshoers in the ad building today), and the consensus was:
McLain State Park, 10 miles outside of Hancock on M-203. It's flat, on
Lake Superior, and there are some trees and open ground around, so it
should be nice. Also, the Michigan Tech ski trails, if you stay to the
side of them. Also in trees and some flatlands. Very scenic.
I should also mention Hungarian Falls, as one of our ad
bldg readers suggested.

What else is there to do besides the following if I decide to spend some
days
at MTU during Carnival Week?
Hocky Game
Skiing
Looking at the Ice Scuptures
Anything else??
