iProcrastinate—A Calendar Tool
Michigan Tech students are always doing really cool things, and recently I found out about a project that Craig Otis, a fourth year software engineering student, has been working on for several years. This project is known as iProcrastinate, a calendar tool Otis first developed in high school for Mac computers and has now put out for people to use on their iPhones and iPod Touch. After learning of this program I decided to check it out for myself by going to the "Productivity" section of the App store on iTunes and downloading it for free. iProcrastinate is very easy to use and extremely helpful. The program allows for the user to define different subjects and assign individual tasks to each subject making planning for my various events simple. Craig plans to continue to develop iProcrastinate adding more features to make it an even more helpful tool. To learn more about Craig Otis and other Michigan Tech students like him, be sure to check out the Michigan Tech homepage where the News feed displays interesting stories and news about what is taking place on Michigan Tech’s campus. For more information about Craig Otis’s project, this article “Tech Student’s Two-Click Calendar: Now Playing at an iPhone Near You” tells about how Otis started with iProcrastinate and how he came to develop it for Apple’s iPhone. It is also possible to learn about the software program for computers and download it on the Apple Website for iProcrastinate.
Ways to find jobs this summer
It came to my attention that although I had mentioned summers in Houghton are amazing and taking classes can benefit the students, I forgot to say how students can find local jobs for the summer. So, here’s some helpful information on finding jobs on campus and around Houghton.
- Career Center Website has a listing for all local jobs and updates as the school year goes on. Several job posts are currently on this website.
- Employment on Campus is a list of all areas of employment on campus and ways students can contact for further information.
- Michigan Works also has ways for all residents of Michigan to search for local jobs within a specific area. Through their Michigan Talent Bank it is possible for job seekers to search for jobs within Houghton and other towns in Michigan.
Summer jobs are out there and I hope that this information helps any of the students staying in Houghton for the summer. If there are any questions or comments about this article, please feel free to contact me at my personal email address. Any suggestions for future articles are still welcomed.
