Career Tips and Jazz Music
The cold air has finally passed, and temperatures have begun to rise enough to make it more comfortable for enjoying the outdoors. Since Martin Luther King Day was this past Monday, students had the opportunity to enjoy the day off from classes. Many of my friends enjoyed their day by going skiing, as I’m sure many other students did.
Throughout the rest of the week the Career Center is hosting sessions called Extreme Makeover — Resume ReNew. This session is geared towards helping students by having a Career Center employee look over their resumes and make changes. The one-on-one meeting makes it a more personal experience for the students. Appointments can be made with the Career Center for the entire week. In addition to Resume ReNew, there are also several other interview and resume boosting sessions taking place during this week and in the following weeks. These sessions include Extreme Makeover — Resume Facelift and Interview Skills week. The Career Center’s events page will give the full list of events for this semester as well as the specific dates, time and information.
Also taking place this week is the Jazz Club Cabaret, taking place on Friday and Saturday in the McArdle Theatre. The Michigan Tech Jazz Studies Program will be putting on this annual event. Small ensembles will be playing funky jazz in an intimate setting. Mu Beta Psi will be providing refreshments for this event. Tickets are already on sale with the general admissions price of $10, children 18 and under are $5 and for Michigan Tech students this event is free (with the showing of their Michigan Tech I.D.). For more information go the Jazz Club Cabaret website under the events page for the Rozsa Center.
Looking ahead for next week’s article, I’ll be talking about the Michigan Tech Bigfoot Snowshoe event that will be held on Saturday, January 31.
