Preview Day
Prospective Students and Parents get excited, because this upcoming Saturday is going to be devoted to you! This article is going to describe some of the great events that correspond to this weekend’s Preview Day. As prospective students it is important to experience and learn about the University that you may be attending and Michigan Tech makes that happen by brining many facets of the University together on this day allowing any (and hopefully all) questions to be answered.
This event does require registration so that the people working to coordinate the needed materials for your sons and daughters can do so before your arrival. The website for Preview Day lists how to register as well as these helpful materials:
This weekend is important for students, but I also think that it is very important for the parents as well. Many of the events have information that students, as well as parents, like to know before coming to Michigan Tech and that is why the students and their families are highly encouraged to take part in this event.
Listed on the schedule of events are times for registration (Friday evening or early Saturday) with campus tours taking place on Friday evening. Saturday is the bigger day in that the information sessions, Tech Showcase, Academic Department Tours, and Residential tours take place, just to name a few. The Tech Showcase is designed so that different departments, campus organizations, and numerous opportunity groups (Study Abroad, Enterprise, etc) will have booths set up to answer the questions of students and parents. I will be helping out with the Tech Showcase and you can see me at the ParentNet booth if you would like to stop by and ask me any questions or just to say “hi.”
I highly encourage all prospective students that are still thinking about what they would like to do for college to attend. This event is a great opportunity to meet students on campus, learn about the degree programs and get just a small taste of what Michigan Tech campus life is like. Also, with this weekend, Michigan Tech includes the chance to eat in the residence halls, complimentary passes to Ripley Ski Hill, the Student Development Complex, and the bowling alley. There will also be an opportunity to check out the Film Board movie of the weekend on either Friday or Saturday night and a comedian on Friday night! So as you can see, it will be packed with many fun events that are very typical to Michigan Tech’s campus. I can’t wait to meet all of the students and their families that are going to visit this weekend!
If there are any questions or comments about this event or the things that I have mentioned in my article feel free to email me at my personal email address. As always, suggestions for future articles are welcome.
