April 24–May 1, 2007, Number 441
The Husky Operation was one of three activities sponsored by Circle K during Spring Fling last Friday. Students used a tongs to pick out items in the holes. If they touched an edge the nose would light up and buzz. The reward for success was a Circle K T-shirt.
Spring Fling Wrap-up and Finals
If you happened to take a look at the Michigan Tech webcams last Friday, April 20, you probably saw a very busy campus. This is because Friday was Spring Fling at Michigan Tech. Student organizations were stationed all throughout the campus with games and activities; not to mention a lot of information about their group. Circle K was running three different activities during Spring Fling: Best Booty Challenge, Gift of Life registration, and Husky Operation. With the beautiful 60 degree weather and lots of sun, this year’s fling was a big hit with the students.
Finals Approaching
Spring Fling acts as a last break before final exams. If your students still don’t know when their exams are, have them check the online exam schedule. For some students, final exams are just a like any other test. For many others, though, final exams can be quite nerve racking, especially for first and second year students since they haven’t had as much experience with them. Remember to let your students know that you are there for them and one bad exam will not ruin their college career. This week is also a great time to send a last minute care package to your student. All students love getting care packages, especially when they are feeling stressed out.
I know my exams in my first year were quite scary. I was so worried that one bad grade would completely ruin me. After being here at Tech for several years, I have realized this is not completely true. Many students feel that cramming the night before the exam works, though I have never seen much difference in my test grades. I have found that, for me, getting a good amount of sleep the night before the final is key, that way I am well rested and thinking clearly.
If there are ever any topics that you feel should be addressed, please send me a personal email and I will try my best to include them in my future articles.
