March 28–April 3, 2007, Number 437
Those visiting Tech's campus last weekend enjoyed warm weather. However, there was still enough snow for the Clean Snowmobile Challenge, where teams of engineering students competed for quieter, cleaner snowmobiles.
Preview Day Wrapup
and Looking Ahead
Many future students and their parents visited the Michigan Tech campus this past weekend for Preview Day. I had the pleasure of meeting many parents at the Scholar’s of Excellence dinner and at the ParentNet table setup during the Tech Showcase. I hope you all enjoyed the events and the beautiful weather that we had over the weekend. I also hope you and your student were able to get all of your questions answered and got a chance to see all that Michigan Tech has to offer, or at least when it isn’t cold and snowing.
Fall 2007 Registration
Starting Sunday night, students were able to start registering for fall 2007 classes. The registration priority and schedule of classes can be found here. Remind your students to sign up early as classes fill up quickly. Some classes, like enterprise, require waivers while others may need instructor approval to sign up for them. If there are questions regarding registration, the academic advisors are in their offices and are willing to help students if they run into any snags.
Standup for Disabilities
This Saturday, March 31, is the Standup for Disabilities event. Standup for Disabilities will be a 12-hour standing marathon designed to raise money for Bay Cliff Health Camp, a camp for children and adults with disabilities. The event will take place in the Wadsworth Hall annex from 8 p.m. Saturday night until 8 a.m. Sunday morning. The event will include a plethora of different activities put on by many different student organizations, all of which are designed with standing in mind. There will be raffles going on all night for prizes donated from local sponsors. The event is set up so the more hours the student stands the better chance they will have at winning a raffle prize. The event will end Sunday morning with breakfast served by President Glenn Mroz. For all the information and list of activities for the event, visit the Standathon 2007 website. To help get the word out, make sure to tell your students about the event.
If there are ever any topics that you feel should be addressed, please send me a personal email and I will try my best to include them in my future articles.
