Preview Day is a great way to check out Tech for students and their families.
Preview Day
Starting this Friday, the Michigan Tech campus will be full of high school students and their families interested in attending the university. Preview Day is aimed at showing and telling high school students all about the Michigan Tech campus, academics, and activities. There will be many informational sessions, along with tours of the campus and department buildings. The complete schedule of events can be found at the Preview Day website. If you are coming up to campus this weekend, make sure you stop by the ParentNet table during the Tech Showcase and say hello. Another thing I would highly recommend is taking a tour of the enterprise labs and facilities that are related to your student’s major. The labs will be open with students there to talk about what it is they do and why they like it so much. I know I will be in the Blue Marble lab for several hours most likely talking about why I joined and stayed throughout the last couple of years.
Earth Week 2007
This week marked the start of Earth Week. Earth Week is put on by the Students for Environmental Sustainability. There will be movies and presentations all week long on a wide variety of subjects. Have your students keep their eyes open for table tents and posters that are being put up all around campus. There is also a schedule of events that can be found on the group’s website.
Bowl for Kids
This Saturday, Big Brothers Big Sisters will be holding their 15th annual Bowl for Kids. This will take place at the Copper Country Lanes, right across the water in Ripley. This will be an all-day bowling event to raise money for the group. Many student organizations and groups are signed up to participate this year. This event is always a ton of fun. I will be participating with my fellow Circle Kers on our annual team from 6pm – 8pm if anyone wants to come cheer us on.
If there are ever any topics that you feel should be addressed, please send me a personal email and I will try my best to include them in my future articles.
