A slice of campus life written by an MTU student
Our new ParentNet writer Nikki Roth is shown at her workstation at The Rehmann Group in Saginaw, where she was an intern last summer.
Looking ahead
Greetings and Happy New Year! My name is Nikki Roth, and I will be the new ParentNet writer this semester. Our previous writer (and my former R.A.!), Sara, has done what all college students dream of doing upon graduation: finding a full-time job to start a career. Although her contributions will be missed, we wish her the best in her new endeavors!
For this article, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I am a fourth year Scientific and Technical Communication major, concentrating in marketing, and pursuing a dual degree in Business Administration. I grew up in the local area, so I wanted to make sure to get the full college student experience. I lived in the residence halls my freshman year, and have made sure to be very active in a variety of student organizations. I am currently the president of MTU's Circle K International service club, the business manager of C Literary Magazine, and treasurer and business team leader of the Clean Snowmobile Challenge Enterprise Team. I may be joining Phi Beta Lambda (a professional business organization) in a few weeks as well. Although I stay busy, I always love meeting new people and getting to know them.
Getting to know new people is one of the best things I love about one of my student jobs. Along with working as a student research assistant for the MTU Office of Institutional Analysis, I have been a campus tour guide for three years. Perhaps I have had the pleasure of taking your family on a tour! With my tour guide training, I hope I can provide valuable information and answer any questions you may have about your college student’s MTU experience.
Two final unique things about me. This past summer I had an internship at The Rehmann Group in Saginaw, Michigan. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. TRG is mostly known for their accounting and business consulting practices, but I was able to work in the Marketing Communications Department. Also, I am a finalist queen candidate for our Winter Carnival, so you will be hearing more about that in weeks to come. Winter Carnival is one of the most exciting times on our campus!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I am excited to get to know you as well! I hope you check back for my next article about our campus’ celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Until next week,
