Biography

Dr. Steven M. Carr received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rice University in 1993. His research interests are in memory hierarchy management, instruction scheduling and register allocation for instruction-level parallel (ILP) processors, and program analysis. He has published over 45 papers in journals and refereed conference proceedings, and has been a PI or co-PI on approxmately $2 million in grants from industry and the National Science Foundation.  Dr. Carr is also a co-author with David Callahan and Ken Kennedy on the paper "Improving Register Allocation for Subscripted Variables", which was selected as one of the most influential papers published in SIGPLAN PLDI between 1979 and 1999.
