Driving to Campus

Driving directions to Michigan Tech’s campus are posted online. Prior to departure, we recommend checking road and bridge conditions, especially for construction zones or weather advisories. Two helpful sites where you may do so are www.michigan.gov/drive and www.ohsp.state.mi.us/rw/home.htm.

If you are using a GPS unit to navigate your trip, enter the following address to arrive on campus:

  • 1400 Townsend Drive
  • Houghton, MI 49931

Family members often post carpooling requests on ParentNet. If you are traveling to campus and would like a passenger, or you would like to ride with someone from your local area, try posting a request.

Parking on Campus

As parking is limited on campus, many areas are restricted during the week to faculty, staff, and resident students. Each parking lot has signage indicating parking restrictions. The interactive campus map allows visitors to easily locate parking by clicking on the red flag labeled “Visitor Parking.”

Parent and family visitors may park in Lot 27, the campus visitor lot, for a daily fee of $2. Visitors are also welcome to park in metered spaces located near the Memorial Union, the library, and Wadsworth Hall. Unauthorized parking may result in ticketing or towing, so please abide by all posted parking restrictions. During some Husky athletic events, you may be required to pay a special-event parking fee in designated lots.
