Family Weekend, a Michigan Tech tradition held each fall in October, allows parents, guardians, and family members the opportunity to visit with their Tech student. During Family Weekend, families can explore campus and the surrounding area, enjoy activities sponsored by Michigan Tech on and off campus, and spend quality time together. Family Weekend 2010 will be held October 8-10. Mark your calendar and make arrangements soon—Family Weekend will be here before you know it!
Family Weekend 2010
History, Scenery, Tradition, Memories!
Family Weekend offers many fun and exciting activities for your family to experience. From exploring the outdoors, to learning the history of the local area, there is something for every family. If you like to explore, join us for an Adventure Hike and Mine Trip, take a boat cruise along the Keweenaw Waterway, challenge yourself on the high ropes course, or canoe the Sturgeon River. You may also tour the Quincy Mine, learn about the Copper Country from members of Michigan Tech’s faculty, or sit in on class with your Tech student.
Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the autumn color while taking the chairlift to the top of Mont Ripley, taking a trolley tour around the Keweenaw, or while biking the Tech Trails. Explore the Mineral Museum, watch NCAA Women’s Soccer action, or go bowling right on campus. If culture and music are more to your liking, attend Bandarama to listen to the Huskies Pep Band, Jazz Lab Band, and Superior Winds or spend Saturday evening with Maya Angelou in our Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts.
Make new family memories when you have some laughs with comedian Johnny Cardinale, mingle with University staff at the Family Weekend reception, enjoy a fun-filled game night, or catch a movie on campus. If you like a little competition, join us for the Portage Lake Fall Golf Outing or enter the Family Weekend Photo Contest! Close your Family Weekend visit with a delicious Sunday brunch.
