Step 5: Register Your Vehicle for Parking on Campus
Students Living On Campus
First-year student residents are permitted to bring a vehicle to campus. However, due to limited parking close to campus, you are encouraged to leave your vehicle at home. If you choose to bring a vehicle, you must register it with the University. There are three ways to register:
- Online through the Husky Hub.
- Online at Housing and Residential Life .
Your parking assignment and decal will be included in your new student check-in packet. After you arrive and unload your belongings, please make arrangements to move your vehicle to your assigned parking lot.
If you plan to bring a motorcycle, scooter, or snowmobile to campus, you must register it like any other vehicle. There is no winter storage available for motorcycles and scooters.
Please contact Housing Facilities at housing@mtu.edu or call 906-487-2740 with any questions.
Students Living Off Campus
If you'll be commuting to campus, you may park in lots 9, 26, or 32: Lot 9 is near the Rozsa Center, Lot 26 is off Garnet Street, and Lot 32 is off MacInnes Drive. You may park in any of these lots during Orientation, but you must register your vehicle with the University before classes begin. There are two ways to register:
- Online at Commuter Parking and Vehicle Registration.
- In person at the Registrar’s Office, Administration Building, Room 110
Commuter students who register their vehicles online by August 15 will receive their parking decals in the mail. Students registering after that date can pick up their parking decals at the Registrar’s Office.
Please contact the Registrar’s Office or call 906-487-2319 with any questions.
Bicycle Registration
If you're planning to bring a bicycle to campus, please register it with the University. There is a $1 fee per bicycle and you will be given a registration decal to display. Registration can be completed at Public Safety.
Please contact Public Safety at 906-487-2216 with any questions.
