Herbert H. Dow Endowed Chair in Chemical Process Safety

The Herbert H. Dow Endowed Chair in Chemical Process Safety was established at Michigan Tech in 1995. Dr. Daniel A. Crowl (retired), co-author with Dr. Joseph Louvar (Wayne State Univ., BASF (retired)) of the highly-regarded textbook Chemical Process Safety: Fundamentals with Applications(Third Edition, Prentice Hall, 2011), occupied the Dow Chair since its inception. The holder of the Dow Chair is expected to establish a strong externally-funded, nationally-recognized program to: 1) integrate concepts of chemical process safety into chemical engineering curricula nationwide; and 2) assist industry by conducting research and training in chemical process safety. This is a tenure-track faculty position at the academic rank of Professor, requiring a PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely-related discipline. Significant industrial experience is viewed favorably.
