Would you like to add real-world business experience to your resume before graduation? The School of Business and Economics offers an innovative undergraduate business curriculum that prepares students to become leaders in business innovation, development, and entrepreneurism.
New Business Development Initiative
Students in our business majors have the opportunity to complete at least one of the following track of the Business Development Experience during their senior year:
- Develop, write, and present a business plan for a College of Engineering Senior Design Project
- Develop, write, and present a business development plan and a management plan for a campus enterprise; and manage the enterprise
- Successfully complete the Applied Portfolio Management Program (APMP)
Each Business Development Experience will allow you to interact with peers and faculty while dealing with real situations that have a business and monetary impact. It will allow you to see the integration of campus innovations in engineering and science and provide you with real experience in business planning and development. You will focus on moving business ideas forward. Innovation, new technologies, entrepreneurship, and business development will be a part of your education.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You will learn to
- Effectively identify and communicate business ideas
- Write business plans
- Conduct market research, including research on new and emerging markets
- Develop financing strategies, including capital acquisition
- Develop pricing strategies, including value pricing, for new products and technologies
- Plan new product production and distribution
- Develop project management goals and deadlines
- Work effectively in teams
- Develop your oral and written presentation skills
