Biography
Maria Gabriela (Vivero) Schutte was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador. She obtained a BS in Economics in 1993 from the Catholic University of Ecuador in Quito, an MBA in Finance in 1995 from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD in Finance in 2007 from the University of Missouri. She joined the faculty at Michigan Tech as an Assistant Professor of Finance in the fall of 2007. Dr. Schutte is an active researcher in the area of International Finance and Asset Pricing. Her work has been featured in The Journal of Financial Economics, a top-tier Finance academic journal, The Financial Analyst Journal, and Cuadernos de Administracion. She is the recipient of the prestigious CFA Institute's Graham and Dodd Scroll Award for her 2009 study of security analysts' ability to reduce the noise component of stock price fluctuations. She has presented her work in many conferences and universities in Europe, Asia, North, and South America. She lives in Hancock with her husband, Paul, their two children- Martin (13), and Isabel (10), and their dog- Bruno (1).
