Biography
Dr. Lafrancois joins the faculty at the School of Business and Economics from Syracuse University where she completed her PhD in Economics in 2010. She conducts research in the fields of energy, environmental, and public economics and examines how climate and energy policy can be used to influence the investment and generation decisions made in the electricity sector. Dr. Lafrancois has presented her research at the IAEE/USAEE International Conference, the Midwestern Economics Association Meetings, and has published in Public Choice and the USAEE EnergyDialogue. Dr. Lafrancois enjoys running, skiing, kayaking, photography, traveling and watching sports.
Research Focus
When it comes to creating efficient energy solutions, scientists and engineers are often the most visible players. Behind the scenes economists play a powerful role in public policy and scalability; they are the bridge between consumers and green technologies.
Dr. Lafrancois researches the electricity sector in the United States, focusing on renewable energy sources. She studies electricity generation and how public policy can influence the use of cleaner fuels. At the consumer level, she gauges consumer response to renewable fuel prices and investigates the changes in property values after the installation of power sources like wind turbines and solar panels.
