School of Business and Economics Dean Search
We are seeking a dynamic individual who will lead the School of Business and Economics as an integral component of an internationally recognized research university. The Dean is expected to foster the development and enhancement of innovative programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to encourage increased research in the school. The Dean will also be central in managing relationships with other university units and outside institutions, and will take a leading role in fundraising and alumni relations.
The School of Business and Economics is AACSB accredited, offers bachelors and masters degrees in business and economics including a new online MBA program, and is a growing, research-oriented school that encourages discovery-based learning and linkages between business and technology. The University’s Strategic Plan emphasizes that the “business of innovation,” entrepreneurship opportunities, and technology transfer are vital components of Michigan Tech. Michigan Tech and the School of Business and Economics have been recognized by a number of performance indicating organizations in the past five years including the Princeton Review, Bloomberg Businessweek, Aspen Institute, and US News and World Reports.

Michigan Tech is located in Houghton on Upper Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. The Keweenaw Peninsula is an area with a wide range of outdoor activities. Lake Superior surrounds us, providing opportunities for wind surfing, kayaking, sailing and snowmobiling. Part of a broader cross-country skiing trail network, the Michigan Tech Trails have been the site of both the senior and junior national cross-country ski championships.
The towns of Houghton and Hancock have a combined population of approximately 12,000. The downtowns bustle with restaurants, brewpubs, coffee shops, and retail stores. The Houghton County Memorial airport is just 15 minutes from campus, and is serviced by United Airlines. While rural and remote, Michigan Tech and the local area provide the wide range of cultural events you would expect in a university setting.
