AQIP Action Projects

Action Projects are the cornerstone of continuous improvement. While Michigan Tech often creates task forces or committees to address specific problems or opportunities or manage the ongoing work of the University, Action Projects are distinguished by their focus on improving systems and processes that enable Michigan Tech to achieve its mission and goals. By participating in Action Projects, teams of faculty, staff, and administrators engage in data-gathering and decision-making which directly affects their work. Successful Action Projects will enhance the quality of Michigan Tech’s .

Every year, Michigan Tech has at least three active Action Projects that will significantly advance the mission and goals of the university. At least one project directly impacts AQIP Category 1: Helping students learn. Action projects can be short-term or long-term, depending on the purpose of the project. Over time, they should address all of the AQIP categories.

We invite all members of the university community to propose an action project. Proposals are reviewed by the University’s Executive Team and selected based on their ability to improve the organization.

All action projects receive annual updates and are peer reviewed by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). HLC maintains a searchable AQIP Action Project Directory of all current and completed Action Projects by institutions participating in AQIP. To learn more about Action Projects, click here.
