Marjorie (Ely) Naidich was named to lead New York City's Reforestation Initiative in 2009. She is responsible for new capital contracting and an expanded NYC Park & Recreation Department's Natural Resources Group.

New York City's Reforestation initiative is one of 127 launched in 2007 as part Mayor Bloomberg's "PlaNYC" to make the City greener and sustainable by the year 2030. This reforestation initiative is a key component of MillionTreesNYC, which continues the City's Natural Resources Group comprehensive tree-planting and greenscaping programming conducted since 1984.

Marjorie came to this position from the Park & Recreation Department's Central Forestry Group, where she was the Street Trees Planting Manager for Manhattan with responsibility for planning, design and budgeting, as well as contract management. Marjorie received her master’s degree in Forestry from Michigan Tech in 2005 after earning a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Albany. Her past field experiences are highlighted by stints as a ranger in Yosemite National Park and work with the Peace Corps in Nepal.
