THE ROOMMATE

THE ROOMMATE (a solid R for violence, sexually related material, profanity, various thematic elements, and plenty of drinking & prescription drug material):  No, it's not another juvenile comedy, though with some slight adjustments one could certainly turn this horror flick into a flaming satire.

It's another of those hastily made-on-a-budget cheapies utilizing left-over cast & crew, with its only raison d'etre being to make easy money off indiscriminating horror film buffs.  While the ads will draw in easily fooled audiences, I doubt if it will succeed even on that level.

A college student becomes the roommate to a deranged freshman who becomes obsessed with the girl with whom she shares a room.  She brutalizes her "rival," gets involved with a "lipstick" lesbian, and enjoys such pranks as putting kittens in dryers - and, worst of all, comes off, thanks to the amateurish acting & lack-luster direction as BO-RING - a total loss of 93-minutes in the dark.  (Grade: F)
