YOGI BEAR (PG for some crude & vulgar instances): Here's another case where the critics and the target audiences will differ. In computer animation, our favorite basket-stealing bear (voice of Dan Aykroyd) continues to separate visitors from their picnic food, accompanied by his best friend & conspirator Boo Boo (Justin Temberlake) as they continue to annoy Ranger Smith (Tom Cavanagh) - until a great tragedy impends: mismanagement of city funds force Mayor Brown (Andrew Daly) to put the park up for sale. The comedy turns green for its message and, well, do I have to even hint at how it's all going to end?
The animated figures romp through real live, lush nature scenes very nicely, and the cast is all-star, but the rest of this clunker is tiresome and not very funny. The humor often slips lower than necessary in scenes dealing with flatulence and one in which Yogi explains how to flirt with a woman ("You urinate on her to mark her as your territory."). The Hanna-Barbara team should be blushing in shame at what Warner Brothers permitted with this bland, mundane plot. (Grade: D+)
