(R for violence, profanity, some nudity, grisly images): What can be said about a movie that for the first time received a rating of zero percent on the Tomato Meter? The one innovation is that it's the first film to feature a murder mystery at Antarctica - the rest takes an uninspired cast through a bizarre mystery involving Russians, a body on the ice, a US marshal on the case, and a rush to solve it before the onslaught of winter sets in.
The original authors of the graphic novel, Greg Rucka & Steve Lieber, should smolder in shame over what John & Erich Hoeber & a couple of other screenwriters have done to their material. Even director Dominic Sena could not help in building suspense with interesting material.
The most impressive scene occurs early on, when the marshal (Kate Beckinsale) arrives, sheds her clothes & takes a shower.
Alas, it's 106-minutes of disappointing use of the potentially interesting idea. (Grade: D-)
