Save the Date for Alumni Reunion 2012 -- August 2, 3, & 4
Over 550 alumni, families and friends—ranging from the Class of 1934 to 2010— converged on the campus, many for the first time since graduation. Twenty-nine Tech Twosomes (alumni couples who met at Tech) were in attendance. The most senior of which were James Westwater '34, Emil Szten '41 and Larry Farnum '41. Special affinity group reunions included Cross Country, Track & Field, Nordic Skiing, Volleyball, the Varsity Singers, and the School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science (SFRES) 75th Anniversary.
More than 27 events were offered for alumni and friends, ranging from talks by Tech professors to canoe trips. Alumni had a chance to relive their Michigan Tech past and caught a glimpse of the university’s future when President Glenn Mroz hosted an all class breakfast. Campus tours and open houses included visits to the J. R. Van Pelt Library and John and Ruanne Opie Library, the Alumni House, academic departments, the Ford Forestry Center (Alberta, MI), and the new location of the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum. In addition to the Tech Talks with professors Ann Maclean and Tim Scarlett, reunion guests had a chance to learn more about Tech’s Industrial Archeology Department as they hosted a tour of the Historic Quincy Smelting Works site.
