Sustainability Science and Society

Protect the environment (and our future).

Tomorrow needs stewards of the environment. Sustainability science and society majors study the interactions between social, environmental, and economic systems to understand and find solutions to the world's most significant environmental sustainability problems. You'll be prepared to lead the way in the creation of a more sustainable future and set yourself up for success in the emerging green economy.

Study sustainability at an institution featured in The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges. Choose a focus area to customize your degree: environmental policy, engineering sustainability, sustainability and communities, environment and society, decision making and persuasion, or environmental health and justice. Participate in on-campus sustainability initiatives like our Sustainability Demonstration House. Get involved with the Green Campus Enterprise to improve the sustainability of the Michigan Tech campus. Land paid internships and co-ops with organizations focused on sustainability. Conduct real sustainability research. Plus, get to know your professors on a first-name basis in a department committed to personalized attention and small class sizes.
