Anita Quinn became the Special Assistant to the Vice President for Administration in 2012, after serving as the Director of Human Resources for 4 years and as Director of Research and Sponsored Programs for fourteen years. Quinn lead the Re-Engineering Personnel Management Systems project for 4 years and then transitioned to acting as a "flywheel" (project manager) for the Advanced Matrix Process for University Programs (AMP-UP). AMP-UP is being utilized as a model process for collaborative, efficient decision-making to enable a work environment with equitable representation of all such that individuals in the university community thrive while reaching their career goals.
Quinn has presented at national and regional conferences in the area of research administration. For over 30 years, Quinn has served in several capacities at the University and within the community. She has been a member of the National Council for University Research Administrators (NCURA), the Society for Research Administrators (SRA), and the College and University Professionals Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). Currently, Quinn is an Advisor for Michigan Tech's Student Relay for Life Team, serves on Michigan Tech's Incident Command Team in the Finance and Administration Section, is co-leading a local support group for women cancer survivors, is a member of the Michigan Tech Concert Choir, and is part of a contemporary praise group at her home church.
